Spoiler Warning – This article contains spoilers throughout. Do NOT proceed if you do not want to know details of the Season 5 stories on The L Word.

The cast and crew of The L Word have returned to Vancouver to begin filming Season 5. Almost immediately, spoilers began to circulate regarding storylines of both main characters and small characters who have not previously been on screen.

A senior Showtime Executive confirmed to L-word.com that Cybill Shepherd and Marlee Matlin will reprise their roles of Phyllis and Jodi, respectively. In surprising news, we were told that Janina Gavanakar, who played Papi in Season 4, will not be returning for Season 5. There is no indication of how that character will be written out of the show.

Miscelleneous spoilers that have been circulating:

Helena: Helena has been arrested for stealing Catherine’s money from her safe in the season finale. Helena is waiting to hear from Peggy, hoping she will bail her out. Alice is trying to help out by trying to reach Peggy. The friends visit Helena in jail—Shane, Tina, and Alice.

Bette and Tina: We’ll address the spoilers that allude to them as a couple, first. In Season 4, Bette went Type A on Tina, insisting that Angelica’s entire academic future hinged upon their choice of a pre-school for her. Continuing that story in Season 5, Bette and Tina are interviewed by a pre-school. Bette repeatedly speaks as if she and Tina are still a couple, using "our" and "we" when explaining their home life. According to script direction, Bette stops herself and looks at Tina, as she realizes her mistake. Tina squeezes Bette’s hand to indicate that the mistake is ok with her. The script direction at one point calls Bette, Tina, and Angelica a "picture perfect family.” When Angelica uses sign language, Bette does not explain Jodi or her roll in Angelica’s life. Afterwards, Tina tells her it was probably a good idea for them to still appear married since pre-schools are probably not a hot-bed of acceptance of lesbian couples to begin with. Tibette ‘shippers hearts will be broken when Jodi returns, bags in hand, and Bette runs into her arms and kisses her in front of Tina.

Tina: Tina fans will be happy to know Tina has screen time and a life this season, even apart from Bette. She tells Alice and Shane that she wants to start dating again, and Alice and Shane are going to assist. Let’s hope we get some “Mission Impossible” type scenes like we saw when the friends helped out Dana in Season 1!

Jenny: Tina also has screen time as the development executive in charge of Jenny’s film. Yeah—Jenny apparently didn’t drown, unfortunately. She’s back, and now SHE is directing her own film. Someone save us all!!!

Shane/Paige: Shane blows it. No surprise, as The L Word creator, Ilene Chaiken, has stood by her position that Shane would never settle down. Paige catches Shane in a compromising position with the realtor who is renting them the house they are to settle down in, as we heard about in Season 4. The breakup goes badly, but Paige is still on the scene at The Planet, post-breakup. Shane, in her non-ending list of losses, loses WAX to a fire. Someone PLEASE get some new writers for Shane.

So what happens with Alice? Alice and Tasha? And where’s Kate? Are Joyce and Phyllis still having hot monkey sex? No word, yet.
